What's on the table at the Wichtel Akademie?
Healthy eating at the Wichtel Akademie – our nutrition concept
Eating habits are formed in childhood. At the Wichtel Akademie daycare centers, we therefore want to combine the topic of nutrition with positive emotions and taste experiences at an early age. Shared meals are an important part of our daycare center routine and our educational work. We offer all children a balanced and varied daycare center meal that is healthy, fun and tasty. When eating together with the children, our crèche staff also take a lot of time for nutritional education.
Healthy eating starts with the ingredients
- Vitamins from the farm: We source our vegetables, fruit and milk from regional and sustainable suppliers such as the Amperhof organic farm in Olching. Here, particular attention is paid to the quality and freshness of the products so that we can always offer you the best organic produce.
- Meat from the region: Our meat comes exclusively from certified organic farms. One example of this is the Munich butcher's shop Siegner Fleisch, which is known for its high standards and species-appropriate animal husbandry. In this way, we can ensure that our meat not only tastes great, but is also produced responsibly.
- Fresh fish: When buying fish, we rely on the MSC seal, which stands for sustainably caught wild fish. This certificate guarantees that fish stocks are not overfished and that marine ecosystems remain protected. So you can be sure that our fish is both fresh and sustainable.
Three building blocks of our healthy diet
Breakfast
Every child starts the day with a healthy breakfast: we serve a variety of hearty breads, homemade spreads, fruit, vegetables, muesli and milk in every daycare center. Even the youngest children will find something they like in our range.
Lunch
There is also variety on the table at lunchtime in our daycare centers: our lunches consist of either a main course with raw vegetables or a main course with dessert. All meals are balanced, naturally healthy and delicious.
Snack time
A shared meal in the afternoon replenishes the children's energy stores. Dairy products, vegetables, fruit and different types of bread alternate to ensure a wholesome diet at the daycare center.
How the Wichtel Akademie cooks
A varied diet: the Wichtel meal plan
Children are often more willing to experiment in the daycare community than at home with their parents. That's why we offer them a variety of different foods and dishes at their facility. This allows them to experience new flavors again and again.
In addition to the popular classics, we often serve new recipes. Our menu is based on a special daycare nutrition concept. A nutritionist helps us put it together. In this way, we ensure a healthy, age-appropriate and balanced diet in every daycare center. In the event of any intolerances, we communicate openly and confidentially with the parents of the child concerned.
Drinks as an important part of daycare center catering
At the Wichtel Akademie daycare centers, we offer the little ones plenty of sugar-free drinks such as tea and water. Each child has a drinking bottle labeled with their name or photo. This is always within reach so that the children can drink when needed. Our educational staff look after the very youngest children.
